Saulong Park

The Saulong Park was established in memory of a young man, Vivencio Saulong who was killed in action at the CLAS vicinity 58 years ago.

Originally, it was simply a tomb at the botanical garden, now called Animal Sanctuary/Plant Library. It was observed however, that many constituents of the university and alumni visitors do not know that there's such a hero's tomb that lies in the university.

During one of the meetings of the Board of Directors chaired by its president, Dr. Catalino dela Cruz, the construction/renovation of the park was agreed upon.

The construction/renovation of the park started on September 8, 2003. To date, the expenses incurred is in the tune of P128,750. Dr. Mario Agustin (BSA '76), the CLSUAAI secretary general serves as the coordinator of the construction/renovation while Dr. Pedrito Natural (BSA '82, MS '92, PhD '99) handles the landscaping aspect.

The Saulong Park is located a few meters away from the university main gate. Its 23 m x 18 m area is enclosed with a perimeter fence. Colorful ornamental plants, concrete fences and lighting fixtures were installed. The park for sure will be an added attraction of the university.
