Multi-country Observational Study Mission on the Application of Advanced Technologies in Aquaculture attended by Dr. Tereso A. Abella from October 18-22, 2009 in the Republic of China (ROC) particularly at its Fisheries Research Insti tute, Changhua Fishery Associati on Offi ce, Pintung Agricultural Biotechnology Park of the Council of Agriculture, and National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. Dr. Abella further gained relevant knowledge on advanced aquaculture technologies and best practices through direct exposure to successful examples of green aquaculture production and postproduction sites. He was given the opportunity to chair a group which discussed key issues and challenges in the adoption of cutting edge technologies for sustainable aquaculture in member-countries of the Asian Productivity Organization composed of ROC, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Iran, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Japan. The application of green aquaculture production and postproduction has already been initiated by the CLSU-FAC through its biotechnology related projects.
