87 CLSU alumni employ at BPRE

SCIENCE CITY OF MUŅOZ, Nueva Ecija- The Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE), an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture (DA) mandated to spearhead the development of the postharvest industry, currently employs 87 graduates of the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) to its various permanent and service contracts position. This is approximately 49 percent of the total workforce of BPRE.

The Bureau is composed of several discipline based departments. These departments are manned by competitive personnel, many of whom are CLSU graduates. These departments and their CLSU trained personnel are: the Planning and Evaluation Department (PED), with 11 positions occupied by CLSU graduates, the Postharvest Systems Analysis Department (PHSAD), 11 positions, Finance and Administrative Department (FAD), with 18 positions, Food Protection Department (FPD), 15 positions, Postharvest Engineering Department (PHED), 12 positions and the Training and Extension Department (TED), 20 positions including service contracts.

Serving a Research and Development (R&D) institution, the CLSU alumni are now proficient extension workers, engineers, development communication practitioners, economists and administrative staff. Most of them finished their bachelors degree in the university and the others took their masteral and doctorate degrees.

Several CLSU graduates at BPRE were also recipients of special awards and citations from other institutions and prestigious award giving bodies in the country. Many have been sent to other countries to attend trainings and international conferences relevant to their field of specialization.
