CIAG Bestows Humanitarian Awards to 26 Alumni
(by ciag.org  1/2/2011)

The Central Luzon State University International Alumni Group (CIAG) recently honored 26 individuals with Humanitarian Awards for generously responding to its campaign to establish a CIAG Endowment Fund (CEF).

CIAG is an association of CLSU alumni, former faculty/staff, supporters and friends and was formally organized on February 2, 2008. A few months after the organizational meeting, under the leadership of Dr. Ed Cabacungan, one of CIAG advisers and the Chair of CIAG Endowment Fund Committee, the CEF was launched with a modest goal of one million dollars (US$1,000,000.00). The purpose of CEF is to provide a means by which alumni and friends can make a meaningful and lasting legacy to CLSU. Dr. Cabacungan believes that with 1,000 alumni and friends who can painlessly donate $200 a year just by saving their change every day, in five short years, the one million dollar goal would be attained. Furthermore, the donations received will be deposited in safe, interest-bearing accounts like a Certificate of Deposit and only 90% of the interest will be used to fund CLSU scholarships and educational programs, thus all donations will continue to increase and never decrease through the years.

The 26 donors who on the average gave more than $200 were presented the Humanitarian Award Certificates by Ed Cabacungan, CEF Chair and assisted by Floro Gutierrez, CEF Vice Chair and Val Pascual, CIAG President, during the CIAG 2nd Grand Reunion in Las Vegas on September 18, 2010.
