The Saulong Park

The Saulong Park was established in memory of a young man, Vivencio Saulong together with unknown student heroes who were killed in action at the Central Luzon Agricultural School (CLAS) vicinity 67 years ago. The park has become a venue for the yearly commemoration of the student heroes.

Originally, it was simply a tomb at the botanical garden, now called Animal Sanctuary/ Plant Library. It was observed however, that many constituents of CLSU, alumni and visitors do not know that there’s such a hero’s tomb that lies in the university.

The Saulong Park is located a few meters away from the university main gate. Its 23 m x 18 m area is enclosed with a perimeter fence. Colorful ornamental plants and concrete benches added beauty to the park.

The construction/renovation of the park was undertaken by the CLSUAAI in 2003 under the term of then president, Dr. Catalino R. Dela Cruz. Dr. Mario B. Agustin, the then alumni association secretary-general, served as coordinator of the said construction/renovation while Dr. Pedrito Nitural handled the landscaping project.

The park was blessed and opened on February 6, 2004 during the 2004 Annual Alumni Homecoming.
