PRESIDENT’S REPORT
November 28, 2009

Nov. 3, 2009 (Tuesday)

  • DN workers have not resumed their work in the roofings of the Alumni Guestel. They took time-out for the “All Saints/Souls Day” in Tarlac;
  • The Foreman (Balong) requested the following: 10 pcs. of 9mm steel bars and 20 pcs. of 10 mm;
  • Instructed Grace to mail our Letters of Solicitation to Mr. Willie Revillame (TV Host of Wowowee Program of ABS-CBN).

    Nov. 5 (Thursday)
  • Received e-mail letter from Dr. Edison Cabacungan which was sent by Dir. Catalino Dela Cruz;
  • Advised the Foreman (Balong) to properly allocate his workers in their work in the Alumni Guestel. He should concentrate his workers in a definite areas.
  • Reviewed Letters of Solicitation for the Souvenir Program for the Grand Alumni Homecoming on April 24, 2010 (c/o of ARO Director Zenaida M. Serna and Dr. Romeo L. Saplaco).

    Nov. 10 (Tuesday)
  • Prepared Letters of Endorsement to Pres. R.C. Sevilleja and Dr. Danilo G. Tan re-the Honorary Doctorate Degree (honoris causa) for Dr. R.T. Padilla – a reiteration of recommendation of the BOD of the CLSUAAI, en banc, after Dr. Padilla submitted more detailed curriculum vitae edited by the Sec.-Gen,);
  • Prepared letters of notice to Dr. Feliciano S. Rosete, Dr. Philip B. Ibarra, Dr. Honorato L. Angeles, Dr Josie A. Valdez and Mr. Valeriano M. Pascual for them to submit their curriculum vitae for a Gitong Butil Award (edited by Dir. R.L. Saplaco);
  • Instructed Anabelle to prepare the balances of all Alumni Funds such as: General Fund (P488,334.00), Special Project Fund (P140,573.00) and Guestel Fund (P139,941.00);
  • Instructed Balong to concentrate their work in plastering (palitada) of the front outside walls of the Alumni Guestel;
  • Instructed Anabelle to purchase 200 bags of cement for plastering. Requested Dir. T.M. Aganon to allocate fund for this purpose from the General Fund (P37,420.00 @ P187/bag).

    Nov. 12 (Thursday)
  • Finalized letter of solicitations to faculty/staff who are CLSU Alumni (edited by the Sec.-Gen.);
  • Dropped by the Office of VP T.M. Aganon, congratulated him being a recipient of the TOFIL 2009 Award.
  • Ocular inspection of the on-going work in the Alumni Guestel. The Foreman (Balong) started fabricating the Logo of the CLSUAAI, to be installed in front of all Attic structures. He also started fabricating the moldura for the windows of the Alumni Guestel.
  • Workers started plastering (palitada) the front walls of the Alumni Guestel. Dr. Sicat and Arch. Tuliao were also in the Third Floor of the Alumni Guestel. Dr. Sicat suggested that additional angle bars should be installed as reinforcements so that all spaces should look/appear as triangles to be more durable/stronger.

    Nov. 13 (Friday)
  • Trip to the Alumni Center. Plastering of the front walls of the Alumni Guestel is on-going (Four spans almost finished including the concrete posts and biga);
  • Signed Life Membership Certificates of graduating students Mid-year Graduation (Nov. 26, 2009);
  • The Foreman (Balong), continued fabricating moldura for the windows of the Alumni Guestel;
  • Other routinary activities in the Alumni Office.

    Nov. 14 (Saturday)
  • 1:30 PM – Have an appointment with Dr. Eliseo L. Ruiz at the Alumni Guestel. I also invited Dir. Catalino R. Dela Cruz, Dir. Onofre F. Ringor and Arch. Ed Tuliao;
  • Dr. Ruiz instructed Balong to revise the thickness of the plastered posts and biga because of unequal thickness: 2” at the upper portion and 4” at the lower parts. Balong continued fabricating the moldura;
  • DN personnel continued installing the ridge rolls and spandrels in the Alumni Guestel. o PS: Grace sent us some snack; Birthday of her daughter.

    Nov. 17 (Tuesday)
  • We had some visitors from California – Engr. Deogracias Tigulo and his family. Engr. Tigulo is an Engineering graduate of CLSU (1967). We had some photo ops; he bought one (1) Centennial Coffee Table Book (P1,000.00). Dir. Saplaco toured the group to the Alumni Guestel; I also joined them afterwards;
  • Requested Dr. R.L. Saplaco to meet his Committee to recommend to my Office the termination of the contract of Mrs. Gemma Ricio for not paying her monthly rentals for three (3) consecutive months with a total of P35,000.00 including the 10% surcharges (Aug., Sept., Oct., 2009);
  • DN Staff, Engr. Ricky ____ came to the Alumni Office. He was requesting for final inspection of their work in the roofing of the Alumni Guestel. He claimed that their work is 100% finished today. We scheduled the Final Inspection on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 - to be invited are Engr. Jose Matutino, Arch. Ed Tuliao and Dr. Eliseo L. Ruiz. DN workers left the Alumni Guestel at about 4pm today.

    Nov. 18 (Wednesday)
  • PM – Trip to the Alumni Center. Dr. Eliseo L. Ruiz and Arch. Ed Tuliao also arrived. We talked about a renewed vigor in Fund Solicitation since our fund is about to be exhausted. Hence, Dr. Ruiz contacted Regent Alfonso for a meeting with him. Regent Alfonso scheduled it on Friday instead of Thursday.
  • Dir. T.M. Aganon bought seven (7) bags of Hybrid Seeds (SL-8H) for dry season planting in the Alumni Farm. Price per bag is P3,500.00, weight = 20kg/bag; percentage of germination id 92%.

    Nov. 19 (Thursday)
  • Requested Dir. R.L. Saplaco to lead the DN personnel and the group of Arch. Tuliao in conducting the Final Inspections of the roofings of the Alumni Guestel contracted by the DN Steel Marketing Inc. (Engr. Matutino and Arch. Ed Tuliao were present including the Foreman).
  • Anabelle came to my house – signed withdrawal slip for paying the 10% balance of he DN Marketing Inc., = P65,000.00

    Nov. 20 (Friday)
  • Trip to the Agrinet Grains Processing Center in San Jose City to meet with Regent Ed Alfonso, however, his guard informed the group that he has not arrive yet from Manila. The group was composed of the following: Dr. E. L. Ruiz, Dir. R.L. Saplaco, Dir. & Prof. Ringor, Dir. Z. M. Serna, Dir. F.C. Viray, Arch. E.C. Tuliao and myself;
  • Gave the last payment of 10% to the DN personnel, Mr. Rolando Curacha, after the Final Inspection of their accomplishments – Conducted by the following: Dir. R.L. Saplaco, Arch. E.C. Tuliao, Engr. J.A. Matutino, Project Foreman (Balong); and the DN personnel represented by Mr. Rolando Curacha;
  • Dir. R.L. Saplaco and Dir. O. F. Ringor informed me that the University President, Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja wanted to talk to me re-the P2.0 M SARO from Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile.
  • Together with them, we went to the office of the President Sevilleja. After showing the letter to Senate Pres. Enrile dated May 14, 2009 to the President and the Chief Accountant of the University, Ms. Evelyn Hilario, it was confirmed that the P2.0 M SARO is really for the Alumni Guestel. The group expressed their thanks and gratitude to Pres. Sevillejas and Accountant Hilario.
  • Instructed the Foreman (Balong) and Arch. Tuliao to prepare the Program of Work for the P2.0 M donation of the Senate Pres. Enrile to expedite the bidding of the said amount.
  • I also informed Dr. E.L. Ruiz about this P2.0 M donation from Senate Pres. Enrile.

    Nov. 23 (Monday)
  • Trip to the Alumni Center. Invited Arch. E. Tuliao, Foreman (Balong) and Engr. Renato Dela Cruz to the Alumni Office. Engr. Dela Cruz assisted in the preparation of the specific Electrical supplies/materials to be bidded for the Alumni Guestel;
  • Instructed Anabelle to canvass the prepared Electrical Supplies/Materials at the Greenhouse Hardware in Cabanatuan City;
  • Mayor Nestor L. Alvarez, through his personnel Mr. Lazaro, delivered three (3) truckloads of sand and Gravel to the Alumni Guestel.

    Nov. 24 – 25 (Tuesday & Wednesday)
  • Trip to the Alumni Center.
  • Activities:
    Finalized ;letter of thanks to Sen. Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile for his additional donation of P2.0M (with SARO and appealed to him to assist us in our Solicitations to the following: Sen. Edgardo J. Angara, Sen. Loren Legarda, Se. Mar Roxas, Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Jamby Madrigal, Sen. Ramon Bong Reville, Jr., and Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan;
    Continued the preparations of the Program of Work for the P2.0M donation of Sen. Pres. Enrile. Anabelle went to Greenhouse Hardware, Cabanatuan City, to canvass the prices of Electrical Fixtures and Plumbing Fixtures;
    - Had an ocular inspection of the Alumni Guestel. Plastering is already in the second half of the front side of the Alumni Guestel.

    Nov. 26-27 (Thursday & Friday)
  • Attended the 19th Mid-Year Commencement Exercises at CLSU (w/ invitation from the University President) – to represent the CLSU Alumni Association, Inc.
  • Commencement Speaker Rev. Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres, S.J. President of the Ateneo De Manila University
  • Finalized the Program of Work of the P2.0M donated by Sen. Pres. JP Enrile for submission to the PPSDO for consideration and for bidding purpose. Arch. Tuliao assisted me in finalizing the Program of Work.
  • Visited the Alumni Guestel - front side of the building is already plastered as of today.
