Bridesmaid no more

CLSU grabs No. 1 Performing School title in Veterinarian Licensure Exam, 2005; 3 graduates land in `Top 10'

The bridesmaid's days are over; CLSU has, finally, become the bride!

Registering a passing rate of 69% (33 out of 48 examinees, 3 of whom landing in the `Top Ten',) the Central Luzon State University captured the No. 1 Peforming School title in the August 2005 Veterinarian Licensure Examination.

With this outstanding feat, the CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine etched a first in its history, placing perennial topnotcher UPLB to second place (with 67% passing average) which used to be CLSU's consistent position a few years back.

According to Dr. Jesus dela Rosa, CVSM dean, aside from UPLB, CLSU also bested the other top performing schools with 10 or more examinees and with at least 50% passing percentage as follows: Pampanga Agricultural College, 60%; Isabela State University - Echaque, 54%; Aklan State University - Banga, 50% and Cavite State University, 50%.

Dr. Rodolfo C. Undan, CLSU president, lauded the CVSM family led by Dean dela Rosa for their incessant efforts at producing graduates who are amply equipped with academic training and hands-on experience which enable them to shine not only during board examinations but moreover excel in the workplace.

The CLSU examinees who made it to the 10 highest places are John Paul G. Lorca (82.63%), 4 th place; Leo Victor C. Illustrisimo who garnered an average of 81.63 (along with two others), 8 th place; and Alvin P. Soriano (81.38%), 10 th place.

Dean dela Rosa said since it graduated its first batch in 1984, the CVSM has produced 673 full-pledged veterinarians with 36 making it to the Top 10 places in various examination years. ''I know of many graduates who are making waves in their places of work in the country and abroad, thus making CLSU really proud of them,'' Dean dela Rosa also said.

Cognizant of the fact that there is more pressure inherent on staying in the topmost ranking, Dr. dela Rosa said, he and the faculty members and staff of the CVSM are vent on contributing their best to ensure that the provision of quality education and training to their students is sustained at all times.

To date, the College is home to an average of 200 students every semester .
