(by By Teodora T. Battad, The CLSU Newslette  7/7/2006)

A lasting legacy!

This is how the book, ''CLSU at 100: A Journey to Humanity'' is envisioned to be.

To be launched on the Centenary of the University on April 12, 2007, the book which was conceptualized and organized by Dr. Fortunato A. Battad, former CLSU President and now President Emeritus, documents the University's humble beginnings, from a small farm school, the Central Luzon Agricultural School (CLAS) 1907-1950; ''Onward'' to the Central Luzon Agricultural College: 1951-1964; and ''A Dream Realized: The Central Luzon State University (1964-2007)''. It also captures ''Spotlight on Leadership''; campus happenings in ''Life's Like That'', and moving forward to globalization in ''Building on a Legacy''.

The writers include Dr. Teodora T. Battad, Prof. Reynaldo S. Gutierrez, Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja, Dr. Eduardo G. Marzan, Dr. Victoria S. Lamucho and Dr. Jocelyn L. Aveno.

Moreover, another book entitled the ''CLSU Heroes of the Millennium'', is also being prepared in time for the centenary.

It is a compilation in book form of the brief but significant account of the lives of the people who are considered CLSU's unsung heroes highlighting their valuable contribution to the growth and development of the University, in particular, and to humanity, in general.

Also, it hopes to give recognition to the graduates and employees of the University who have shown their commitment and dedication to create a difference in the lives of other people regardless of race, gender, status or lineage despite all odds and tribulations.

The writers of this book are Dr. F. Battad, Dr. T. Battad, Dr. Aurora S. Paderes, Dr. Maria Excelsis M. Orden and Prof. Maria Corazon M. Vera Cruz. Dr. F. Battad was able to source-out funds for the publication of the two books.
