CLSU#s R and D Papers win awards

Three R & D papers submitted for the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research's (DA-BAR) 16th National Research Symposium were selected AFMA R and D Papers.

Farmer's Field School: A Vehicle for Accelerating Dissemination of Grafted Tomato Technology for Off-Season Production was adjudged Best Paper (Adoptive Research Category) with a cash prize of P20,000 plus plaque.

The paper was authored by Teotimo M. Aganon (BSA '75), Clarita Pagaduan- Aganon (BSA '76), Aurea Dela Cruz-.Roxas (BSA '76), Eduardo G. Marzan, Jr. (BSA '73), and Rolando V. Pagaduan (BSA '92).

Meanwhile, the other two winning papers which carried cash prize of P5,000 each plus certificates were: Development of Striped Flea Beetle Phylotreta striolata (Fab.) on Pak-choi and Management Options Against the Pest by Marilyn Gagelonia-Patricio (BSA '78, MS `89) and Performance of Goats as Influenced by Crop-Animal Systems Research Network (CASREN) Interventions in Lowland Rainfed Areas of Pangasinan by Edgar A. Orden (BSA '80), Fe L. Porciuncula (BSA '81), Edwin Villar, and Sonny N. Domingo.

The latter was also adjudged third place (Development Category) Best R and D Paper during the National Symposium on Agriculture and Resources Research and Development (NSARRD) held last November 10 at PCARRD Headquarters, Los Baņos, Laguna. The researchers received P20,000 plus plaque.

Earlier, the same paper was selected as Best R and D Paper (Development Category) during the 15th Central Luzon Agricultural Resources Research and Development Consortium's (CLARRDEC) Regional Symposium on R and D Highlights held last August 3-4 at PhilRice Headquarters, Science City of Muņoz, Nueva Ecija. The researchers took home with them P 5,000 cash award plus plaque of recognition.

Moreover, Maria Excelsis Magpantay-Orden (BSA '80), Aurora Salamat-Paderes (BSHE '72, PhD '92), Jocelyn L. Aveno (MS '91), and Analou L. Santos (BSA 2001) were recognized for winning first runner up in the Poster Competition with their entry entitled Effects of Pruning and Bagging Technologies on Productivity and Cost in Mango in Selected Areas in the Philippines during the 6th National Mango Congress held last November 27 in Tarlac City.
