CLSU: Fast moving towards its April 12, 2007 Centenary

The excitement and thrill of looking forward to the celebration of the centenary of the Central Luzon State University are now being felt by every University official and constituent. Morever, these have become great impetus for keeping everyone, particularly, the various centennial committees, thinking, planning, moving, working.

After a series of monthly meetings, the Executive Committee for the CLSU Centennial Celebration headed by President Rodolfo C. Undan, with the four Vice Presidents as members, has come up with a concept paper detailing the would-be programs and activities ''to commemorate the 100 years of existence of the University in a fitting and grand celebration designed to strengthen institutional commitment, loyalty and belongingness.''

The celebration ''shall highlight the eminence, reputation, the legacy and the glory of the Central Luzon Agricultural College (CLAS), the Central Luzon Agricultural College (CLAC) and now CLSU in nation building. It shall also stress the achievement of its graduates, its outstanding alumni, its faculty and staff who have contributed immensely in the evolution and transformation of the institution from a humble agricultural school into a premier institution of higher learning.''

According to Pres. Undan, the Centenary shall be celebrated with colorful and festive activities combined with academic undertakings in the forms of lectures and fora, along with publications and exhibits, among others, highlighting the institution's ''100 years of Leadership and Excellent Service in Agricultural Education and Countryside Development'' which is the theme of the centennial celebration.

One very significant program the University is eyeing to realize is the raising of P100M that will serve as endowment fund which will be placed under the name of the CLSU Centennial Fund, Inc., a Foundation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The fund, according to Pres. Undan, will be used to support the putting up of projects and infrastructures that will serve as ''monuments for the centennial of the University,'' and other activities such as scholarship programs and related endeavors.

Meanwhile, as early as now, a launching program of the 365 days countdown for the centennial celebration has been drawn. The launching will be done on April 12, 2006 during the 99 th Foundation Anniversary Program with the following activities, to wit: groundbreaking ceremony and laying of the time capsule for the CLSU Marker which is proposed to be erected in front or adjacent to the CLSU Main Gate, among others. The one-week centennial celebration program (from April 6-12, 2007) has also been drafted.
