CLSUAAI Inks Agreement with Terra Bio Plus Corporation

The Central Luzon State University Alumni Association, Inc. represented by Engr. Genaro M. Tolentino, President and Board Chairman entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Terra Bio Plus Corporation, represented by Mr. Lim Hoe Beng, Director, International Marketing Operation on November 25, 2006.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the Philippine - Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) Conference Hall at CLSU, Science City of Muņoz, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. The signing of the MOU was done with the presence of Dr. Eliseo L. Ruiz, CLSU Alumni Foundation, Inc. President and the members of the Board of Directors and officers, namely; Dir. Mario Agustin, Vice President for Internal Affairs; Dir. Quirino D. Dela Cruz, Secretary; Dir. Onofre F. Ringor, Assistant Secretary; Dir. Eduardo G. Marzan, Jr. Treasurer; Dir. Teotimo M. Aganon Immediate Past President and Assistant Treasurer ; Dir. Emmanuel V. Sicat, Auditor; Dir. Ofero A. Capariņo, PRO; Dr. Carlos C. Abon, Jr. Director, Alumni Relations Office; Prof. Mila S. Ringor, Deputy Secretary General for Administration; Dr. Catalino R. Dela Cruz former President and CLSUAAI Ex-Officio Member; and Ms. Margie Alocilja, Director, Marketing of HAVILAH Biodynamics Farm Sytems, Inc.

The agreement joint venture will involve the production of organic fertilizer from indigenous waste materials that are abundant in the locality and pose as environmental hazards due to improper or inadequate means of disposal.

The Terra Bio Plus Corp., a business entity based at Ontario, Canada, is involved in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Program of the United Nations based on the Kyoto Protocol. This is specifically the conversion of biodegradable materials such as plants and animal wastes into organic fertilizer through advanced beneficial fermentation technology using beneficial microorganisms and a scientifically formulated food base. Moreover, the corporation has the capability to secure Carbon Emission Recovery (CER) credits out of the organic fertilizers produced.

On the other hand, CLSUAAI which is a non profit non- stock organization will secure land to be used for the factory site as well as source the needed raw materials. It will also provide the management and technical expertise to ensure the smooth management of the projects.
