CLSU: 100 days to 100 years

The Central Luzon State University marked its 100-day countdown to its looked-forward-to Centenary on April 12, 2007 last January 3. Dr. Rodolfo C. Undan, CLSU President, said the special program held in front of the CLSU Administration Building which started 7:30 a.m. was one of the many planned activities meant to usher in the University's 100th Founding Anniversary.

The 100-day countdown was graced by members of the CLSU Board of Regents (BOR), past and present officials of University, alumni, constituents and friends of CLSU. The BOR members and Pres. Undan gave short messages during the program. The program also started the launching of the collection campaign for CLSU artifacts for the Centennial Museum and distribution of Centennial information campaign materials.

The one hundred balloons released which bore the CLSU centennial logo and theme plus a fireworks display made more festive the simple but fitting celebration. The 100-day countdown was doubly significant as it coincided with the 66th birthday of Dr. Undan whose second four-year term as CLSU President officially ended January 4. However, prior to it, he was given authority to continue serving as CLSU President up to April 30, 2007 by the CLSU Board of Regents headed by Dr. Carlito S. Puno, chairman of the Commission on Higher Education. The decision was arrived at during the BOR meeting on December 22, 2005.

President Undan also said that the University officials and constituents are currently in the thick of the preparations to ensure a very memorable and successful celebration of the University's Centenary.
