 Salient Features of the Meeting

  • 1. Officially welcomed the newly-designated ARO Director, Dr. Zenaida M. Serna;
  • 2. Distributed the Certificates of Appreciation to BOD and other Alumni Officials for their unwavering support and cooperation during the Grand Alumni Homecoming and Fellowship Program held last April 18,2009;
  • 3. Silver/Golden Jubilarians will be invited during the Grand Alumni Homecoming on April 12, 2010;
  • 4. Monthly Report of the Alumni Association President;
  • 5. Updated: the On-going Construction of the Alumni Guestel;
  • 6. Update on the Search for one (1) Private Representative to the CLSU Board of Regents where the Association President is the Chairman and two (2) members i.e. one (1) from the CLSU Faculty Association and one (1) other from the Student Supreme Council;

    June 2 (Tuesday)
    Arch Ed Tuliao and I worked on the Bill of Materials for the proposed P5.0 Million donation of Cong. Edno Joson, Representative of 1st District of Nueva Ecija. This proposed donation is being worked out by the Project Consultant of Cong. Joson with Dir. R.L. Saplaco and Dr. E.L. Ruiz;
     Contacted by phone the University Accountant, Ms. Evelyn Hilario, re the development on the SARO revision which was returned to Sen. Pres. Enrile. I was informed that the staff of Sen. Pres. Enrile is still following it up with the DMB;
     Dr. Antonio Alfonso of PhilRice turned over P1,200.00 as additional donation to the Alumni Guestel. His group of CLSU Alumni in PhilRice have initially donated P10,000.00 last April 2009.

    June 3 (Wednesday)
     Faxed the letter of Solicitation and Thanks to the Office of Cong. Edno Joson including the Bill of Materials for the proposed P5.0 Million expected donation of the Congressman per instruction from Mr. Choy Verzola-Project Consultant of Cong. Joson; and,
     Arch. Tuliao and I made a routinary inspection of the on-going construction of the Alumni Guestel, particularly in the Third Floor

    June 4 (Thursday)

     Went to the Office of President Sevilleja and requested him to sign the letter of Solicitation to Cong. Edno Joson including the Bill of Materials of the proposed P5.0 Million donation which was sent (thru LBC in San Jose City to the Office of Cong. Joson).

    June 6 (Saturday)
     Visited the on-going Construction of the Alumni Guestel where the workers were busy putting CHB in the First Floor since they can’t work in the Third Floor due to strong rain; and,
     Rodavel Hardware delivered the 50 pcs. Of 10 mm steel bars and one (1) roll of GI wire

    June 8 (Monday)
     Routinary activities in the Alumni Compound as follows: a). Ocular inspection of the Alumni Guestel; Revised the Bill of Materials for the donations of Cong. Violago and Senate Pres. Enrile, etc.

    June 9 (Tuesday)
     Attended the Regular Meeting of the CLSU Board of Regents (BOR) held at the UP-Campus, Diliman, Quezon City

  • As Chairman of the Search Committee on selection of Candidates for one (1) Private Representative to the CLSU BOR, I submitted three (3) recommendees complete with the Evaluation Criteria and the results of our Committee Evaluation. The BOR Chairman, Dr. William Medrano, surprisingly deffered the final selection of the Private Representative – for what reason(s) no one among the other BOR members know. He stated that the BOR will act on our recommendation during a special meeting to be called for the purpose. o
  • The candidates recommended by the Search Committee are as follows (in alphabetical order):

    June 10 (Wednesday)
     Personally received a visitor from Canada – Dr. Paul David Watts, whom I accompanied to Dr. A. Yambot, Dean of the College of Fisheries of CLSU;
     Sent an e-mail letter to Mr. Ray Peralta regarding his offer for one (1) alumni scholarship slot as per information from Dr. R.T. Padilla; and,
     Routinary inspection of the Alumni Guestel construction where workers were still concreting beams in the Third Floor.

    June 11 (Thursday)
     Meeting with Dr. E.L. Ruiz, Dr. R.L. Saplaco and Arch. E. Tuliao regarding the need of raising of funds for the Alumni Guestel which is getting depleting. however, Dr. Ruiz, however, was very optimistic that he can already get the donation of his Chinese friend when he goes back to China sometime this month; and,
     Dr. E.L. Ruiz requested Engr. Ed Alfonso to set a date with Cong. Violago for us to follow-up our request for donation intended for the roofing of the Alumni Guestel

    June 13 (Saturday)
     The Construction Foreman informed me that there are only nine (9) bags of cement in stock; So, I instructed Anabelle to order 50 bags of cement from a hardware store in Muñoz; and,
     Dr. Serna was busy fixing/arranging one (1) room at the Alumni Center which will serve as the ARO Office. We had lunch together in my Office. And I also requested her to help me find two (2) CLSU graduates (one male and one female) with majors in Physical Education for potential employment by a fellow alumnus.

    June 15 (Monday)
     Interviewed the recommendee of Dr. Serna, Ms. Elenita Calderon who will be recommended for employment at PUNP. I found her credentials very satisfactory, so I instructed her with my letter of recommendation to go direct to PUNP Pres. R.T. Padilla for interview;
     Due to funds for construction getting scarce, I instructed the construction Foreman (Balong) to reduce his manpower (from 20 to 10 workers); and,
     Gave one (1) Office Table with glass top to the ARO Director, Dr. Z.M. Serna, for use in her office

    June 16 (Tuesday)
     I was informed by Ms. Calderon that she was already employed by Pres. Padilla in his University. She started working on June 18, 2009. I extended to her my congratulations on behalf of CLSUAAI.

    June 17 (Wednesday)
     The construction workers at the time, have already installed the 25 concrete culverts ( size of 24 inches) at the drainage canal between the Alumni Guestel being built and the new/additional area reassigned by the CLSU for use;
     Instructed bookkeeper, Anabelle to purchase 50 bags of cement since there were only four (4) bags remaining in stock; and,
     I was informed by Ms. Anabelle Corpuz that we have only P46,000.00 remaining in the Bank deposit of the Alumni Guestel

    June 18 (Thursday)
     PM – Meeting with Dr. E.L. Ruiz at the Alumni Center. He informed me that his Chinese friend, Mr. Song Yangeng already donated $10,000.00 for the Alumni Guestel which is equivalent to P480,000.00 at the exchange rate of P48.00/dollar. I expressed my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. Ruiz for all his efforts in soliciting the said amount which was very timely since we have only P46,000.00 remaining in the Bank for Construction of the Alumni Guestel. Dr. Ruiz and I were issued the $10,000.00 cash by Mrs. Zenaida C. Ruiz, her beloved wife, in their official residence in Bagong Sikat.

    June 19 (Saturday)
     Trip to Quezon Nueva Ecija with Dr. E.L. Ruiz, Dr. R.L. Saplaco and Arch. E Tuliao in order to meet Cong. Edno Joson with the purpose of to following-up the P5.0 Million donation which he is offering for the Alumni Guestel Construction. We were able to confer with his Project Consultant, Mr. Choy Verzola who assured us that he will work hard for the release of the donation come July or early part of August, 2009. After our brief talk with Cong. Edno Joson, Dr. Ruiz proceeded to Laur where he has a scheduled meeting, while the three (3) of us proceeded to the Alumni Center. It was then raining very hard.

    June 22 (Monday)
     The University Accountant, Ms. Evelyn Hilario informed me by text message that the NCA of the P4.0M donation coming from Cong. Violago is already available in CLSU. She asked me to make a follow-up re: the marginal letter of Cong. Violago regarding his donation for the Alumni Guestel.
     Ms. Hilario also informed me by text message that the letter of request of Senate President Enrile re the realignment of the P1.0M donation to the Alumni Guestel is still pending in his Office; hence, a follow-up should also be done; and,
     Instructed Ms. Anabelle to purchase 50 pcs of 10 mm steel bars and 50 bags of cement for the Alumni Guestel as per request of the construction Foreman (Balong).

    June 23 (Tuesday)
     PM – Balong came to my house in Talavera for me to sign a withdrawal slip for the salaries of the construction workers; and,
     4:25 PM – the Secretary of Cong. J.G. Violago called me by phone, she requested me to forward to her our Solicitation Letter to the Congressman for the Alumni Guestel. I told her that I will just bring all the necessary documents tomorrow, June 24 (Wednesday), which she agreed.

    June 24 ((Wednesday)
     Made ready all the documents to be submitted to the Office of Cong. Violago; and,
     Dr. Saplaco and I went to the Office of Cong. Violago in San Jose City where we submitted all the necessary documents to his Secretary, Ms. Violy De Vera who promised us that she will write the letter addressed to President Sevilleja re: the allocation of donation intended for the Alumni Guestel. Ms. De Vera told us the she will immediately inform us as soon as Cong. Violago has signed the marginal letter to Pres. Sevilleja. Said letter will state the amount to be donated for the Alumni Guestel Construction out of the P4.0 Million he has released to CLSU from his PDAF/CDF.

    June 25 (Thursday)
     PM – Trip to the Alumni Center. Instructed Anabelle to purchase 1,500 pcs. of CHB as per request of the Construction Foreman (Balong) intended to complete the wallings of the Ground Floor of the Alumni Guestel.
     Finalized writing/encoding my report for June 2009
     Gave final instructions to the Student Assistant of the Association, Mr. Jake Floyd Aganon regarding his duties and responsibilities in the Alumni Center and to the Alumni Association.
