CLSU ranks No. 1 in 4th Fisheries Technologists Board Exam

This one is for the record.

The Central Luzon State University College of Fisheries ranked No. 1 in the 4th Fisheries Technologists Board Examination given last October 2-3. Moreover, it scored 93% passing rate (13 out of 14 examinees), with 5 making it to the Top 10, most especially the No. 1 slot.

This is a fitting and well deserved record that will be etched indelibly on the pages of CLSU's life story as it celebrates its 100th year on April 12, 2007, said Dr. Arsenia Cagauan, dean of the College of Fisheries, and Dr. Rodolfo C. Undan, CLSU President.

Board topnotcher Lenin Aquino Villamar (Bachelor of Science in Fisheries 2005) bested all the other 138 examinees from all over the country representing 35 Colleges and Universities. He obtained an average score of 82.50.

The University awarded Mr. Villamar P50,000 as cash incentive in accordance with a University policy which provides for the giving of monetary incentives to board exam topnotchers. The incentives amounted to P50,000, P30,000, P20,000 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. The 4th to 10th placers are given P10,000.

The other topnotchers are Carolyn C. Cabic (81.75), 4th place; Nico Jose S. Leander (81.50), 5th place; and Michelle N. Zamora (80), 10th place. Each of them received a P10,000-cash incentive.

The other successful CLSU examinees are:Peter Dominic B. Bergonio II, Ramon G. Doctor, Ronald P. Eugenio, Jayfer V. Gacusan, Zayrenee G. Gareza, Louise B. Madriaga, Anna Fe M. Sarenas and Janice P. Vaderama. It is worthwhile mentioning that four graduates from the Pangasinan State University who have undergone review at the College of Fisheries also passed the exam with one of them landing 3rd place in the Top 10.

The CLSU-CF hopes to sustain the commendable feat it scored this year. It may be recalled that from 2003-2005, CLSU just placed second to University of the Philippines Visayas.

The PRC awarded a plaque of recognition to CLSU-CF which was given on November 20 at the Manila Hotel.
