Sevilleja is new CLSU president

Ruben C. Sevilleja is the new president of Central Luzon State University (CLSU).

He replaced Rodolfo C. Undan who retired last April 30 after serving the university for eight years and four months.

The turnover ceremony was witnessed by past presidents Dr. Fortunato Battad (president emeritus) and Dr. Eliseo Ruiz, Science City of Muñoz Mayor Nestor Alvarez, China agriculture attaché William S. Co, members of the board of regents and other officials.

Sevilleja, 56, is a noted educator, researcher and scientist. He comes from Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.

The seventh CLSU president is an alumnus of the university, finishing in 1972 his bachelor of science in agriculture, major in agricultural economics degree.

He obtained his master's degree in aquaculture economics from Auburn University, Alabama, USA in 1978 and his Ph.D. in development economics from the University of Wales Swansea, United Kingdom in 1997.

Sevilleja, in his inaugural speech, said that the university's graduates should be trained to become life-long learners, engaged leaders and productive citizens who are imbued with human values and moral principles.

To sustain the university's tradition of excellence, Sevilleja said programs and projects that are relevant and responsive to national and global concerns and attuned to the needs of the times should be implemented.
